Privacy Policy

Information stored on your device

Your Fund balance, Fund history, essential costs, purpose, Choices, notes and app preferences are stored in the app’s local database on your device. Freedom Fund has no user account, does not connect to a bank and does not upload this content to a Freedom Fund server.

If you create a backup, the app hands the backup file to your device’s share sheet. You choose where it goes. That destination then handles the file under its own privacy terms.

Optional usage analytics

Pseudonymous usage analytics are off by default. After you have used core features, the Home screen may invite you to opt in. You can also choose under Settings > Privacy > Share usage analytics. When enabled, Freedom Fund uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand whether core features are being used and to improve the app.

Firebase receives a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app and device information (such as app version, device model, operating system, language, screen resolution and store), session/lifecycle information, and an IP-derived country. Google says the IP address is discarded after deriving location. Freedom Fund also sends six feature-use events: completing setup, adding to or using the Fund, starting or completing Help me choose, and handing a backup to the device share sheet. A completed choice includes only the broad outcome: spend, spend less, or keep.

Analytics never includes your Fund balance, amounts, currency, coverage, purpose, descriptions, notes, dates, backup content or filenames, or database record identifiers. Advertising identifiers are disabled and analytics is not used for advertising, profiling across apps, financial advice or selling data.

Google processes analytics as our service provider. Depending on where you live, this can involve processing in countries outside the UK or European Economic Area, including the United States. Google provides contractual and technical safeguards for these transfers under its Firebase data-processing terms. Event and user data use Firebase’s shortest configured retention period and the retention period is not reset by new activity.

Crash reporting

Freedom Fund does not include Firebase Crashlytics or another remote crash reporting service. Crash reports are not sent to the publisher by the app. Apple or Google may separately collect diagnostics if you have enabled their device-level sharing settings; their privacy policies govern that collection.

Delete or reset data

Reset all app data in Settings permanently deletes the app database, preferences and widget snapshots from the device and turns analytics collection off. Uninstalling the app also removes its local app data according to the platform’s normal behaviour. A backup already shared elsewhere is not deleted.

Reset does not retroactively delete analytics already received by Google. That data is pseudonymous, is not linked to a Freedom Fund account, and expires under the configured retention period. Turning analytics off stops future analytics collection on that installation.

Widgets and device visibility

Home Screen widgets are visible to anyone who can see your unlocked Home Screen. Current Freedom Fund widgets show essential-cost coverage or a generic hidden-details state. They do not show Fund balances, monetary amounts, Choice descriptions or notes. Widget data comes from a privacy-filtered local snapshot; widgets do not query the app database or a remote service.

Contact and changes

Privacy questions can be sent through the support link in the app (Settings > Privacy > Support), which is the same contact published with the App Store and Google Play listings. If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and the store listing or app will point to the revised policy.
